This photo illustrates a problem that is occasionally
seen. A leak would manifest itself at the area marked
with an "X". The gutter ran the entire length of the
flat and shingle roof, over 60' long, yet only had
one downspout to drain it, due to the aesthetics underneath
at the patio. Unfortunately, in a heavy downpour,
the gutter would overflow and back-up under the roof,
causing a leak. Note the large surface area of the
roof that all feeds into a gutter with only one 4"
downspout. The problem was alleviated by adding additional
downspouts. |
